Yet it is. Indeed, already at the end of the 1970\u2019s we noticed a warming of the planet. Many will recall the concern we had at the time about the impact of Mother Nature\u2019s whims on the sport of snowmobiling. Then all of a sudden, North America had two winters, (1980 and 1981) with no snow cover. Some birds of doom began to cry the death of the snowmobile.<\/p>\n<p>It was then that the Federation des Clubs de Motoneige du Qu\u00e9bec (FCMQ) took the initiative to organize an even bigger assembly of world-wide snowmobilers for the winter of 1983. After testing the market, the FCMQ organized an assembly of snowmobilers in February 1982, in Sherbrooke. The response from the community of snowmobilers was excellent. The success of the event encouraged the administration of the FCMQ to open up for an adventure of a major event in 1983. It was still to be decided the final destination. After a meeting with the municipal authorities of Valcourt, it was decided that Valcourt was a consistent and exceptional site with the following facilities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Presence of the J.A. A network of tourist trails was put in place in 1983 and a map of the main trails used by snowmobilers was available to ensure everyone\u2019s safety. locked=\"off\"]<\/p><p><strong>\u00c9crit par Denis Leclerc, ancien pr\u00e9sident du GPV<\/strong><\/p><p>Difficile de croire que le d\u00e9r\u00e8glement climatique est la gen\u00e8se de l\u2019av\u00e8nement du GPSV. Pourtant c\u2019est le cas. En effet, d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 70 nous constations un r\u00e9chauffement de la plan\u00e8te. Les doyens se rappelleront les inqui\u00e9tudes que nous avions alors sur l\u2019impact des caprices de dame nature sur la pratique du sport de la motoneige. Puis, tout \u00e0 coup, l\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Nord a connu deux hivers (1980 et 1981) sans couverture de neige. Certains oiseaux de malheur commenc\u00e8rent \u00e0 crier \u00e0 la mort de la motoneige..<\/p><p>C\u2019est alors que la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration des Clubs de Motoneige du Qu\u00e9bec (FCMQ) a pris l\u2019initiative d\u2019organiser le plus grand rassemblement de motoneigistes au monde pour l\u2019hiver 1983. Afin de tester le march\u00e9, la FCMQ organisa un rassemblement de motoneigistes \u00e0 Sherbrooke en f\u00e9vrier 1982. La r\u00e9ponse de la communaut\u00e9 motoneigistes fut excellente. L\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement connut un succ\u00e8s qui encouragea les administrateurs de la FCMQ \u00e0 se lancer dans l\u2019aventure pour un \u00e9v\u00e9nement majeur en 1983. Il restait \u00e0 choisir une destination. Apr\u00e8s une rencontre avec les autorit\u00e9s municipales de Valcourt, il fut d\u00e9cid\u00e9 que Valcourt constituait un site exceptionnel avec les facilit\u00e9s suivantes:<\/p><ul><li>Pr\u00e9sence des usines de Bombardier<\/li><li>Pr\u00e9sence du Mus\u00e9e J. A.
