The second edition of the Festival International de la Motoneige (FIM) was to be celebrated with the 25th anniversary of the snowmobile! The family aspect of the sport of snowmobiling took an important place, and the president at the time, Lawrence Langevin was happy to announce that the honorary president was going to be Mr. J.R. Andre Bombardier, son of the inventor of the snowmobile, Joseph-Armand Bombardier. With the acceptance of the honorary president of the FIM in 1984, Mr. Bombardier declared that he was particularly touched by the position being given to him. He recognized that his position coincided with the 25th anniversary of the invention of the snowmobile by his father, and that the festival was to take place on the same site where his father invented and developed the snowmobile in Valcourt. Mr. Bombardier added that, \u201cthe experience acquired by the festival of last year, which was a grand success, we will have an event this year unlike ever before\u201d.<\/p>\n

When it was time for the festival, the honorary president declared that the FIM of 1984, would have a touch of family aspect in the sport. Since then, it was decided that the activities would be accessible for all. Even the youngest and the unfamiliar can safely learn the basics of this sport while discovering the pleasures of snowmobiling. <\/p>\n

La deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9dition du Festival International de la Motoneine (FIM) sera marqu\u00e9e par le 25e anniversaire de la motoneige. L\u2019aspect familial du sport de la motoneige prend \u00e9galement une place importante alors que le pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019\u00e9poque Lawrence Langevin \u00e9tait heureux d\u2019annoncer que la pr\u00e9sidence d\u2019honneur sera couverte par monsieur J. R. Andr\u00e9 Bombardier, fils de l\u2019inventeur de la motoneige Joseph-Armand Bombardier. En acceptant le poste de pr\u00e9sident d\u2019honneur du Festival international de la motoneige de 1984, Monsieur Bombardier a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 qu\u2019il \u00e9tait particuli\u00e8rement touch\u00e9 du geste que l\u2019on posait \u00e0 son \u00e9gard. Il souligna que son mandat co\u00efncide avec le vingt-cinqui\u00e8me anniversaire de l\u2019invention de la motoneige par son p\u00e8re, et que le festival aura lieu sur le site m\u00eame o\u00f9 elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 invent\u00e9e et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e, soit \u00e0 Valcourt. Monsieur Bombardier ajouta :<\/p>

\u00ab\u2009L\u2019exp\u00e9rience acquise lors du festival de l\u2019an pass\u00e9, qui connut un grand succ\u00e8s, nous permettra d\u2019offrir cette ann\u00e9e une c\u00e9l\u00e9bration sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent\u2009\u00bb.<\/p>

Voulant que le festival soit une occasion pour tous de fraterniser, le pr\u00e9sident d\u2019honneur a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que lors du Festival International de la Motoneige en 1984, l\u2019accent serait mis sur l\u2019aspect familial de ce sport bien de chez nous. C\u2019est ainsi, pr\u00e9cisa-t-il que les activit\u00e9s seront pr\u00e9vues de fa\u00e7on \u00e0 permettre \u00e0 tous de participer \u00e0 ce grand \u00e9v\u00e9nement.<\/p>

\u00ab\u2009M\u00eame les plus jeunes et les non-initi\u00e9s pourront, en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9, apprendre les rudiments de ce sport tout en d\u00e9couvrant les plaisirs de la motoneige\u2009\u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9.<\/p>
